Now, the thing about this show was that both Anna and Maya were in their 30s, and they tried blending in with real teenagers. As you could have guessed, that's just not possible, which is why the show actually ended up being good.
One more reason why people got hooked on this show was because Maya involved a lot of raw emotions here. Basically, some of these scenes weren't scripted at all. It's just her natural reaction to a situation.

She might have become noticed because of her role in PEN15, but that's not all she did. Maya moved on from small screens and made an impact in the world of movies in 2019 when she got the role in an indie film, Plus One. She worked alongside Jack Quaid there, but since I have no idea who the fuck that is, I won't mention him again.
This movie premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and after that, the movie, and Maya got pretty good reviews. Well, that makes sense because her performance there was amazing, but you'd have to watch the movie to see what I'm talking about.
This movie might not be for everyone because it's kind of weird watching it if you're a guy. So, the girl goes to a couple of weddings with her friend, and all she does is avoid finding a date. I don't know what the reason is, but apparently, that alone makes the movie hilarious.
Gave birth in 2021
Enough about her career. Let's take a look at her personal life. So, Maya announced in 2020 that she's expecting a child with actor Michael Angarano. Maya gave birth to her son, Leon Fredrick, in 2021, which means she took some time off-screen to take care of him. That's what any mother would do, so it's nothing strange.
Even though she welcomed a child into this world, she didn't decide to quit acting. She tried to make a balance between her career and motherhood, and I think that's going great for her.
